First Eastern Counties 413 (N345 CJA) in Mildenhall – Dec 1998
Saturday in December 1998 (1300) - First Eastern Counties Buses 413 (N345 CJA), an Alexander Dash bodied Volvo B6 that had been new to First Greater Manchester North in June 1996 (#1045), seen at King Street, Mildenhall.
On Monday 26 October 1998 the services between Mildenhall and Bury St. Edmunds were modified to become two circular services. Service 356 operated by First Eastern Counties ran the route anti-clockwise from Bury St. Edmunds via Fornham St. Martin, Fornham All Saints and the villages along the A1101 to Mildenhall returning to Bury St. Edmunds via Barton Mills, Tuddenham, Cavenham and Risby. The clockwise service was numbered 355 and was operated by Burtons Coaches.

The management later sold out to GRT Holdings. GRT had a relaxed policy of having a corporate livery layout but each subsidiary retained their individual colours. GRT later merged with the Badgerline Group to form First Bus and First eventually chose their countrywide corporate colours and style. In between there was a bit of a cross-over period between the formats.
Regarding the second point Richard I have put some thoughts under the photograph in question.
