I used f/8 to get depth-of-field and a slow shutter speed to create a sense of movement. Sigma 15-30mm F3.5-4.5 EX DG Aspherical lens at 15mm on a Nikon D2Xs. 100 ISO.

The morning had been opaque with mist. Around midday the sun started to break through and the light warmed up a bit.

I used a venerable Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f/2.8 Tessar lens for this picture.

In 1539 the abbey was dissolved and sold to William Sharington, who converted it into a country house. Sharington was succeeded by his brother Henry in 1553, whose daughter married John Talbot of Salwarp, Worcestershire. Lacock Abbey remained in the ownership of the Talbot family until the Second World War.
