Fox Talbot Would Probably Think This Was Mad
Trees in the grounds of Lacock Abbey. Photographed with a Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AI-S lens. Intentionally out of focus for this exposure at f/2.8 with a speed of 1/125th. ISO 500. I have tried this technique before. It is difficult to do it well, as evidenced by those iris blade shapes manifesting themselves top centre. However, I like the trees well enough, particularly the one in the left-hand foreground with its trunk in shadow. And the autumn leaves on the ground provide a nice contrast. Fox Talbot would have probably thought this was quite mad.

but really, i like the attempt of the technique. do you ever crop? (i shy away from it, but do it on occasion) you might check out a crop on this that removes the right hand side about to the middle of the white at the top - about 1/3rd in from the right. even though i love the bokeh on the right in the green area, it seems to pull me away from the tree on the left that is so good. and then the bokeh on the left stands out more.
