Whenever I go inside a Norman church I am depressed by how little light permeates the interior. The Christian faith is heavily resonant with uplifting references to light. How curious that their church fenestration is so poor at gathering it.

I feel your pain, TLC. I have been in Romanesque churches in Alsace where there was almost no light because the pillars occupied most of the floor space -- 6 feet in diameter or more, with only a couple of feet in between. No room for light to go after it came in one of the tiny windows.
