The Long Grass

The Long Grass
I made a print of a photograph I took at Lacock Abbey. I put it inside a window envelope so that this detail could be viewed through the opaque address material. Then I photographed it using an old M42 screw-thread lens from the 1970s on a Canon EOS 40D camera. After importing it to a computer I applied a matte, increased the highlights - a lot - and reduced the saturation - a little. Now it is beginning to resemble a table mat in a bad restaurant.

John FitzGerald has particularly liked this photo

A very successful technique. An impressive view. You've given me some ideas, too. I'll be satisfied if they're half as successful as this.

Thank you for your generous compliment. May your efforts be rewarded. The world needs more dreadful table mats.

Corrigendum: the third sentence above should read 'The world needs no more dreadful table mats.'
