1/50th of a second exposure: could be camera shake. Probably capable of better performance stopped down and with a faster shutter speed. It was never an expensive lens, and by the time I acquired it secondhand it was positively cheap. And look at the distortion where the straight lines go bendy! If it was on a full-frame camera this would be even more pronounced. However, sharpness is a deity probably much over-revered. I think contrast matters more.
