Today At Midnight

As the clock runs down the last few minutes of Black History Month, here's my small hat tip to one of my all-time favorite Jazz flautists: the one and only James W. Newton (b.1953). His verse from the 1990 disc If Love:

"...Life holds the key
To a room full of windows
That reveals the space
Of time
Between the last soul’s breath
And death
I wish that I could take
Your place in line
Last dream
When we turn around and find
Today at Midnight."
