MotherBearS

MotherBearS
(This is for the Russian athletes. All of them, banned or otherwise)
It's mainstream meeja- sanctioned, ergo hallowed, ergo true: everything bad that happens, to anybody, anywhere, it's Russia/Putin's fault. Trump wins the election? The Catalans are behaving like a bunch of prats? Italy's out of the World Cup? It's raining? It's not raining? Your wife’s left you? Blame Russia and that Devil in the Kremlin. Easy peasy. It would seem that the self-styled free world's reserves of hypocrisy and foolishness are as plentiful as they are generously accessible to anybody who wants some. All you have to do is go with the flow. So the Spirit of Russia has come to have a good bitch with her totem and old chum, the MotherBear of All Russias (a BearGon by affiliation), to unburden herself and to get some moral support. And tea & cake, of course. The Cubs are most sympathetic and the Additional Fuzzies moderately disconcerted at said human fatuousness. The Proto-Shoggoth that dwells in the foliage of the Twofold Tree of Life thinks that the Russian Soul shouldn't worry too much as it all might come out in the wash anyways, when we blow ourselves to smithereens and the bugs take over the evolutionary circus. The Proto-Shoggoth is a congenital optimist.

Superb cartoon. While it's fashionable to blame the Russians for everything and unfairly isolate the country, I think with re: to the Olympics, the painful decision was necessary. The Olympics is one of the few competitions where drug use is not tolerated and real penalties exist. With other sports, I often don't know what to believe because of rampant, unpunished drug use. For instance, as a Yankee fan, I don't get too excited about Aaron Judge's 52 home run rookie record since until baseball gets serious with drug testing and penalties, fair or not, the suspicion of some kind of tainting influence exists.

Finally, I hope the anti-Russia hysteria here in the USA comes to an end since the world will be a better place when Russia and America can work together as equals and partners.

Many thanks William. Especially your support/appreciation for this particular cartoon. My politics are not exactly flavour of the day, in general.
I agree that doping and any other form of cheating is a no-no in any sport. I don't so much object to the banning of a few athletes who break the code as to the revolting double standards, to the nonsensical, not to say hypocritical general blanket banning of all Russian athletes just because they are Russian, and, of course, the hysteria. Hysteria gives me the willies big, big time, and with good reason.
I'm woefully ignorant of the Mysteries of Baseball (or Cricket, for that matter☺) but your example of the Yankees is a good one: Russians, yes! go for them! Sacred Baseball? Don't you dare touch! Pure, undiluted double standards, that's what.
Also, I agree wholeheartedly that the USA and Mother Russia working together would be beyond wonderful. Unfortunately I expect piggies will fly before this happens. The paranoia about Russia is SO deeply ingrained in both the American psyche and the political system that it would take a real revolution, or as I prefer a R-Evolution, of the collective mind to get over the old, old, old habits. You and I certainly will not see this happening in our lifetimes. But perhaps a few generations down the line... Perhaps... Thai is if we don't all go BOOM! before.
Anyway, you hang on in there and don't ever let love and joy die in your heart, me old china.

I certainly believe in the Russian Soul, but I suspect the Russian government I.e.Vladimir is happy to create mischief via the internet but I have to admit, as always, that I am brainwashed by the Guardian, though I do try to peek out of that comforting box from time to time.

Crazed and hypnotic graphics, of course!

Oh, dearest lad! You must give up the Guardian, you must. It washes the brain with FairyTales Liquid (Public School Privilege scent) and crushes the soul, Russian or otherwise. You must listen to the Cthulhu Brothers instead (I'll be posting a link yo threir stuff soon).
As for Vlad the Impervious, of course he makes mischief! He's a politician. But not as much mischief as the shit that pours out&about on daily basis from Pennsylvania Av. Nor does he invade countries right, left und center like our beloved government(s), innit?
I like the crazed bit.
Thanks for the massive visit, the brownie points and the suggested groups. Give my regards to DownUnder, too.

Thanks, I’m back from Terra Aus now, but have a nasty dose of shingles(I probably caught this from reading the Guardian). My visits everywhere are sporadic, if not erratic, though being housebound this week I have a bit more inclination to Ipernitise.

Oh you poor dear, how horrid. I had shingles a few years ago. Loathsome thing. I shall invoke the good offices of the great MotherBear for your full & speedy recovery and I'll burn an effigy of, say, Seumas Milne, at the Solstice bonfire, just in case.

Very impressive work, Dolores!

For me, your remarks are a mirror of our society - a mirror of man par excellence.
Unfortunately, double standards are omnipresent and often the main cause of injustice in the world. However, as for those Russian athletes who have been taking drugs, or have been doped with their knowledge, I think they are jointly responsible for the ruthless exploitation of athletes by the rich and powerful - at least if they have not put up any significant resistance.

Anyway, your passionate commitment is admirable.

Thanks galore for:
The praise

The invitations to various groups -including the somewhat "stretched" one to the abstracts anonymous...
The moral support. I'm more used to getting sticks rather than carrots in that department. ☺
Admirable...oh, I don't know, you know. Possibly mere stubborness or even foolhardiness.
In any case, thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Have a marvelous week.
