My mother used to say to me: You've got a big mouth on you, girl. It oughtta be washed with carbolic!
Oh, well...

Disgrace stays with you, guilt and shame.
I'll have to read Paradise Lost again.
More lies! I haven't even read it once.

Join the club, Steve. Neither have I -read Paradise Lost, I mean. Nor will I ever get the time or the inclination to do so, now. Too far gone...:-)
PS. As to the shame & guilt... I stopped "doing" guilt ages ago. Totally useless thing. Shame...I still have some. For the right things. Very selective use of it.
PPS. Gore VIdal (one of the great loves of my life) used to say that "I told you so" were the four sweetest words in the English language. I agree. I never tire of them. ;-)

I must have been, rather than a lunar child, a lunatic child.
My dad, occasionally , seemed to talk a lot of sense, but most of the rest of the adults around me... what can I say? They appeared to talk totally unrelated bollocks -unrelated to what I saw, or though I saw, or thought that I thought I saw. In any case, I soon developed the knack of ignoring them, and as soon as I could, I took off for moons new and other celestial corpuscles.
Falls and plummets happened, like shit will, but I'm still here, aren't I?
We are both here, Bunny dear. With poetry, and Shoggies and whatnots.
Up the cognitive revolution!!!
