Viaduc de Neuvial

Viaduc de Neuvial
A railway bridge crosses the gorge of the river Sioule near Bègues since 1869.

Named after the nearby hamlet of Neuvial this bridge is part of the railway line, that connected Commentry and Gannat. The order for this bridge was placed at the just founded "Eiffel et Cie". So Gustave Eiffel and partner and cofounder Théophile Seyrig planned and constructed this structure.
It was the very first bridge "Eiffel et Cie" ever built. The neighbouring Viaduc de Rouzat was the second. So here they won the first experiences to later construct the way bigger and more complex Ponte Dom Luís I (1886) and the Garabit Viaduct (1884).

The Viaduc de Neuvial is even "signed".
