Hit the Road, Jack.

Hit the Road, Jack.
Breaking camp in the Thar Desert, India.
Something a bit quicker and much more comfortable than a grumpy and knackered old camel would have been a Godsend. I felt sorry for it...I'm not the lightest load...

I like your safari clobber...very fetching......:-)

You need to check out the new Aussie film 'Tracks'........you would identify closely with it....also it shows camels in the désert at their most disagreeable....
Hope you enjoyed the trek! Have a great weekend, Phill

Beats the shades and Speedos, doesn't it?!?
I read the book about 20 years ago and found it quite inspirational...a riveting read. I'd love to see if the film does it justice...I'm sure it does.

This looks absolutely stunning viewed large, on black Phill. It's a timeless shot..........could have been taken pretty much anytime since camera's were invented..........and I suspect the way of life hasn't changed much either! Just brilliant :)

Thanks, mate, a kind comment. It felt like I was in Biblical times. Talking of cameras, it was taken in '92 with a shitty little thing swapped for petrol tokens (worth about 15 quid) that used film and had a cotton-reel type manual winder! A scan of an old print.

Just goes to show........it's the photographer that makes a picture, not the camera - that's just a tool :)

A great B & W shot that survived scanning. This shot looks so much older. I've ridden on a camel before and it definitely is not a comfortable mode of transport. I hope that you did not have to travel far.
