It certainly is worth viewing large Peter. It looks like a sea anemone! The detail is superb. What is this flower? Take care and have a good weekend.

I'm pleaded you liked it Rosalyn it's a Tradescantia fluminensis the flowers are small with 3 petals I used focus stacking it was one of the first shots I wasn't quite happy and have taken dozens more but I can't get one as good !! it's fascinating what macro reveals. I hope you have a nice evening, don't forget to be counted tomorrow !!!!

A combination of images shot at different focal points that you blend in using a software. I never did it but I know it can be done !

amazing details on that flower!
I think this is a really good macro. I think the focus being out on the close petal makes this more alive. And the background with its straight lines adds to the wonderful detail of the flower.

seen and enjoyed in 'naturey crap - crappy nature' - thanks for adding!

WOW!! Such fabulous detail! The segments in the ?pistils? are astonishing and remind me of antennae so much! BRILLIANT! I've never seen this before--well done!

Thank you for your comments on my latest pictures! :) I really appreciated what you said about paved trails and agree with your 110%. I will always prefer a natural dirt trail of course but having spent so much time in parks this past couple of years, I've had plenty of time to think about this train of thought as well. Paved paths are such a nice thing for folks who aren't as mobile as they once were. These paths are also really great for families with infants and toddlers where strollers can go easily. Also, it's nice for the little ones to have a paved path for balance and direction and helping to keep them from wandering (hah! yeah, right!). Help against erosion is another essential reason, especially wherever the area is sensitive. And if one likes to ride bicycles, a paved path makes riding road bikes possible--some of our favorite bikes are "rails-to-trails" rides, which take us on trips which show us many miles of fabulous scenery!

On the other hand...as you and I agree wholeheartedly--paved paths take away from the natural splendor of an area. When thinking this way, paving a path is outrageous and horrendous! Also, there is something about the natural contours, bumps, roots, rocks, and bushes that one must negotiate which add to the delight of a natural path. It's more work, one must pick placement of footing if the path is challenging, and that's quite a lot of fun, isn't it? Paving removes the majority of this which is rather annoying.

Anyway, it was fun to think about your comment regarding paths and to reflect on how much I've thought about this since we've been traveling around in our RV. :) Have a super day!

I looked at your suggested crop but I like the hairs on the petals, and it is already quite heavily cropped I think it would push it to far

Oh Peter! I am sorry to confuse you! I wasn't suggesting a crop...I was pointing out the amazingness of your focus! :) I agree, it would be too far! :)

These are really impressive flowers, I know them as "spider-Lily", and in German they are also called "Gottesaugen" = God's eyes...

A common name for it here is Wandering Jew, I wasn't sure if that would be considered politically correct nowadays but you can find them for sale under that name
