Refreshment HFF

Refreshment HFF
Refreshment, the inscription reads 'Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association' and there is an address in London founded in 1859 it still exists as the 'Drinking Fountain Association' with the move away from plastic bottles it is becoming more relevant
The fence is in front of the Village Hall previously the school

Percy Schramm, Frans Schols, Annalia S., Falk Preusche and 19 other people have particularly liked this photo

It's good to see this cattle trough preserved for posterity. There used to be a drinking fountain in almost every town.
HFF, Peter, and stay safe.

If I see right, there is no fountain any longer and the little basin planted with little bushes and flowers? HFF Peter.

There was only the horse trough, at the time it would have been a small rural village certainly more animals than people

As some Florentine elders I overheard would say "We had them. Then they got rid of them. Now they have to spend money to bring them back ... " They were talking about trams, but it works just as well for public fountains! :)

The light-coloured spear tip of the fence are intriguing to me. I don't think I have seen that done before.

A belated HFF, Peter. Hope you are enjoying the weekend.

I'm sure in the dim and distant past when I went to school there they were just black. thinking about it they did well to survive during WWII many railings were cut down to provide steel for the war effort, you can still see where this has happened. I hope the new week is a nice one for you Annalia
