agp - Cwm Bychan cutting [1 of 7]

I don't know if the line's original builders had planned for a tunnel, but a rock cutting exists here these days.

Location is looking north through the cutting, which is just south of the sharply curved Cwm Bychan embankment that follows the Byrn y Felin River Bridge over the Afon Glaslyn. For most purposes, this river bridge marks the start of the pass.

The actual T1 {tunnel 1} aka "Goat Tunnel" is just outside Beddgelert Station, about a mile further north of the river crossing.
