Marple Wharf Jn

Not the best quality, but something of a historical record. Marple Wharf Jn and signalbox. Stanier Black 5 4-6-0 45076 passes with an eastbound train on the main line Manchester to New Mills, the Hope Valley and Sheffield. The diverging line goes to Marple Rose Hill, Bollington and Macclesfield, nowadays open only as far as Rose Hill, a couple of miles away. 13Feb68. Scanned

Staniers finest

Taken on the same day as the previous photo of D216, is Coronation Pacific No 46241 'City of Edinburgh', with a southbound express. Scanned from a print taken by my dad when he took a much younger me to Crewe for an afternoon. Not able to put an approx date: ie "circa 1962" on the date thingy, so for now I'll make do with 29Sep62

South Dock - West India Docks - London - 31.5.2007

The London Millenium Dome, now an O2 arena, is in the background and the ship on the right is the Lord Amory, centre for the Sea Scout movement. The three cranes are mementos of the former life of the London Docks and are no longer functional. Another snap from the archives, found while looking for something else! No it isn't a negative, it's me trying to be arty again!
