My new (used) camera came in the mail today! It was an eBay purchase and I picked it up for only $7.99. It's like new! There's a fair and car show this weekend, so looks like I'll get to try it out soon.

I bought it for sentimental reasons. I've always been a Minolta man and when I heard they were going out of business in 2006, it broke my heart. Mind you, this was also just after I had purchased the last-ever camera they made, a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D DSLR. I bought it and then they went out of business a couple weeks later. But, seeing as how Konica and Minolta were only in business together for a couple years, this had to be one of the last film cameras they made, so that's why I picked it up. Fortunately, I've got some Konica Minolta film to run through it.

Sounds like a good deal! I've got a few point and shoot cameras in the collection, but I don't try and collect them like I do some other cameras.

There for a while, I was finding a lot of good point and shoots for a dollar or two and bought several. Minoltas, Canons and Olympus ones.. But, then they started adding up and I decided to try not to get every one I found because I would eventually have to use them. So, I've all but stopped picking these up - this one was a sentimental purchase.

Oh ... I don't plan on shooting every camera I collect. Some will just be dust collectors and others ... potential props. If I take the time to take a photo and develop it ... I want it to be a good photo! I have an Argus that's a sentimental camera. The shutter speed is off on it and I don't use it for photos anymore, but it does bring back fond memories of a very attractive gal I dated for a bit! :-)

Reminds me of an Argus I used to have in the 1970's. I bought it at a yard sale, but it didn't work. Being young, I took it apart and tried to fix it. Needless to say, I didn't have a clue about it, so it never got fixed or even put back together. I guess through the years, it got lost. All I have left of it is the front lens element and the case. I'd really like to find another one so I can use it and see how it performs after all these years.

It was an Argus Autronice 35.

I forget which model Argus I had. I thought I had a picture of it on file, but it must not have the key words populated. I added a much larger bedroom suit a couple of years ago and I boxed a lot of my cameras up to make room for it. They are OK rangefinder cameras ... and probably look more attractive than they work! :-) I may try lubricating the aperture and shutter with a little lighter fluid and trying another roll of film in it before I regulate it to the history shelf.
