Color Wheel Project: Red

Welcome to a brand new project, "Color Wheel," and the official beginning of my new ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to join in the fun! These projects are motivating and only require one picture a week, so it's an easy committment if you'd like to give it a try! I've decided to focus my Color Wheel pictures to a growing collection of beads that I've gathered over the past couple of years. Although I've taken a few pictures of them already, I thought it would be fun to use this opportunity to show off the rainbow of colors that I have in so many shapes and sizes! So here is my first week's Color Wheel picture for the color Red! Finally, I'd like to extend a warm welcome and big thanks to all of you who've joined this new group! We're at over 100 members already and I'm delighted at all the wonderful pictures that are flowing into the group's pool of images! Such variety and so much talent! I couldn't be happier! Color Wheel Project: Pink

It's time for week 2 of my Color Wheel project, which is part of the new ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . I would like to invite all of you to join in the fun, and if you missed last week with "Red", you can either skip it or upload a red picture too! My collection of beads has grown quite huge over the past week, because my husband, who is a product photographer for Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, brought home several grab-bags brimming with beautiful beads for me! I have spent many happy hours sorting them by color, and I'm still not done! :D I had a great time playing with my enormous pile of pink beads and finally decided on this picture as my favorite! The new ipernity group that I'm hosting is doing better than I ever could have hoped for, with over 200 members and an ongoing stream of pictures of first red and now pink images. The subjects are varied and spectacular and I'm having a great time! I hope you'll consider joining us if you haven't already! Explored on October 14, 2014. Highest placement, #1.

Color Wheel Project: Orange

Week 3 of my Color Wheel project has arrived! This project is part of the new ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . Please feel free to join us! Even if you missed the first two week of Red and Pink, you can either skip them or upload those pictures too! Piles of orange beads to play with, I had some interesting shapes to photograph, but in the end, this simple oval-shaped bead got the nod, and includes bokeh of many beads beyond. 10-Week Picture Projects now has over 225 members and each week we've gotten over 100 submissions to enjoy. Great fun, great talent, and easy to participate in because your picture can be from your archives or current. This can be a nice way to showcase a picture from the past that screams a certain color! :) Explored on October 21, 2014. Highest placement #1.

Color Wheel Project: Yellow (+1 in a note)

(+1 in a note above) Time for Week 4 of the Color Wheel project! This project is part of the new ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . Please feel free to join us! Even if you missed the first three weeks of Red, Pink, and Orange, you can either skip them or upload those pictures too! My collection of yellow beads is not as large as for other colors, but still plenty of interesting shapes, patterns and textures to play with. This spiral-shaped beauty grabbed my attention weeks ago when I discovered it among my unsorted pile of beads. I remember hoping it would work as my choice for Yellow, and what do you know...here it is! :) 10-Week Picture Projects now has over 235 members and each week we've gotten over 100 submissions to enjoy. Great fun, great talent, and easy to participate in because your picture can be from your archives or current. Color Wheel Project: Green

Week 5 of the Color Wheel project and the theme is green! This project is part of the ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . We'd love you have you join us! Even if you missed the first weeks of Red, Pink, Orange, and Yellow, you can either skip them or upload those pictures too! Since I am so crazy about nature, it should be no surprise to learn that green is my favorite color, so I had a wonderful time playing with my huge assortment of green beads. Many choices from tiny seed-beads to a few which were about 1" in diameter, it was fun experimenting to find out which beads really stood out. This bead is a great example of why you should take pictures of a subject you're interested in but aren't sure about. I thought the white on this bead might be too overwhelming and I guessed it would blow out. However, the shape and pattern was really neat so I plunked the bead down and took one picture. Sure enough, a glimpse showed that the white blew out. I didn't feel like setting up a bunch of flashes to fix the issue, so I moved on. After loading my pictured up on on my computer, I began looking through them, and this picture grabbed my atttention right away. Since I shoot all my pictures in RAW, I have a lot of data to work with. I adjusted the highlights and white sliders, and was able to completely correct the overexposed areas, leaving a shine which defined the shape and kept all the wonderful details of this pretty and unusual bead. 10-Week Picture Projects now has over 240 members and each week we've gotten over 100 submissions to enjoy. Great fun, great talent, and easy to participate in because your picture can be from your archives or current. This can be a nice way to showcase a picture from the past that screams a certain color! :) Explored on November 6, 2014. Highest placement, #4.

Color Wheel Project: Blue

Blue is the theme for Week 6 of the Color Wheel project! This project is part of the ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . We'd love you have you join us! Even if you missed the first weeks of Red, Pink, Orange, and Yellow, you can either skip them or upload those pictures too! Beautiful blue beads from nearly white to almost black and all sorts of shapes and textures had me fiddling around for quite a while to make sure I had pictures of all the beads I really loved! I took my pictures last night and looked through them today, winding up on this shape as the winner, with it's deep cobalt color and pretty gleam. 10-Week Picture Projects is two shy from 250 members and the waves of contributions every week is incredible!! Great fun, great talent, and easy to participate in because your picture can be from your archives or current. This can be a nice way to showcase a picture from the past that screams a certain color! :) Explored on November 11, 2014. Highest placement, #13...

Color Wheel Project: Purple

The Color Wheel project is rolling along and Week 7 brings us to my grandmother's favorite color: PURPLE! This project is part of the ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . We'd love you have you join us! Even if you missed the first weeks of Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Gree, and Blue, you can either skip them or upload those pictures too! All my life I've wrestled with my favorite color: is it green and then purple or purple and then green?! Lots and lots of pretty beads to take pictures of, and I especially liked this tiny painted bead which have an asian appearance to me. The flare of twinkling purple bokeh made this picture an easy winner, though I had plenty of other interesting beads that stood out well too! I started my new job last Wednesday and today marks the first day of a true work week for me! I am so excited I can hardly stand it! With each passing day, I'm finding my feet and learning the different roles I'll be filling. Being a creative assistant is going to be full of fun and interesting tasks, with plenty to keep me busy and challenged! Life is so sweet! :D 10-Week Picture Projects has 259 members now with an endless stream of beautiful pictures! Color Wheel Project: Brown

Week 8 of 10 of The Color Wheel project has arrived at BROWN! This project is part of the ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . We'd love you have you join us! Even if you missed the first weeks of Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple, you can either skip them or upload those pictures too! Brown beads don't sound all that interesting until you realize that beads are made of brown stone and wood as well. Natural forms for beads are so beautiful to me, so of course I was delighted at the wonderful selection of interesting beads layed out before me. Beads made of interesting pods and seeds, wood, stone and glass. Even beads made of nut husks, cool to examine closely! I got a whole bunch of neat pictures but this particular bead image was an easy favorite. I have about five different beads of this one, and it was fun to examine each of them closely and play around with various angles. My job ROCKS!!! I am having such a wonderful time!! I'm writing copy, editing, proofreading, and searching for quotes and facts for various topics. I'm helping find information for different tasks, and I am contributing in meetings too. The whole company has made me feel very welcome, and I couldn't be happier. It is so incredible to have a job again!!!! It's been a very long, long time since I've been so happy!! 10-Week Picture Projects has 259 members now with an endless stream of beautiful pictures! Great fun, great talent, and easy to participate in because your picture can be from your archives or current. Color Wheel Project: Black

Week 9 of 10 of The Color Wheel project features the darkest color of them all: black. Black is both the absence of light and the complete absorption of light. This project is part of the ipernity group, "10-Week Picture Projects" . We'd love you have you join us! NOTE: If you are part of the Color Wheel Project, would you please take the time to visit the discussion about what project we should do next? There is a poll for you to place your vote, and I would love to know what you have to think! Please visit this link: Time to Vote on our Next Project! This week, I carefully poured out all of my black beads onto the mirror I'm using for my Color Wheel set, and then carefully looked them over to remind myself of what was there. Marvelous large, shiny baubles, tiny seed beads, plastic cones and spirals, stone and wooden tube shapes...so many to ooh and ahhh over!! And then I saw this lovely polished stone. When you see a rock like this, it's a bit difficult to believe. The bands of white, the little section of brown on top, yet black overall, I found myself just staring at this one, and was really happy when I got a nice picture to share! How nice it is to be settled in to my job. After having 4 days off for Thanksgiving weekend, I was really excited to get back to it. A super day awaited me and a feeling of contentment because I feel so at home here. :) 10-Week Picture Projects has 269 members now with an endless stream of beautiful pictures!
