Light at the End of the Tunnel

Light at the End of the Tunnel
Have you ever walked through a train tunnel before???!! I got to do this today!! Tunnel 13 is an old abandoned train tunnel just south of Ashland, Oregon, and was the destination of our photography club. You can--and we did--walk from one side to the other, and what a special adventure that was.

I walked through by myself without a flashlight; the light from either end of this tunnel made enough light to see my way. At several points I stopped and just listened. The frosty breeze blew past my face, and it was completely, utterly silent except for the dripping of water from above, splashing into inky black pools below. The cold air smelled damp but clean, like the smell of snow, and each end of the tunnel was white with light, and usually had at least one photographer there, taking pictures of this extremely cool place. I feel very lucky to have had this experience, and hopefully you will enjoy my pictures that I'll be posting over the next few days of the tunnel and area around it! Tonight I'm posting 5 pictures...ENJOY!

Thanks to all of you who have left comments and fav'ed my images! I appreciate them all! If you leave a comment, I try very hard to return the favor on the same day. I consider it both a compliment that you've taken the time to tell me what you think about my image(s) and an invitation for me to come see your photography as well!

By the way, for those of you who may not know, there is a very fun, free Flickr competition site which you might like to take part in. It's called FlickrDuel and features dozens of ongoing competitions, or duels every day. You can enter your pictures into many different categories and vote on contests too. It's another way to enjoy your photography!
