Bruce's
An intermediate-level run on the east side (Slide Bowl) of the Mt. Rose Ski Resort, outside Reno. Looking east; the steam plume nearly in the center is from a small geothermal plant. Reno is off the pic to the left, while the northern tip of Washoe Lake pokes in on the right. The Slide Bowl parking lot is visible left of center--the resort is big enough to have two base lodges and parking lots. Since this picture was taken, the biggest snowstorm so far this season has fallen, so the snow should be even better! And the storm dropped snow in the lower elevations, too, so for the time being the desert below is also snow-covered, such that we've lost the contrast between snow up here and bare ground below.
