The British survival presenter Ray Mears was in Bodie, California, a similar set up. It was fascinating, a real time capsule which would probably be looted here.

Yeah, Bodie is a similar set-up tho on a much larger scale. Interesting that it would be the subject of a "survival" presentation! What was the take? I've also got an album on Bodie (in my "mining" folder), in case you're interested. We've been there a number of times.

These places would be thoroughly vandalized, alas, except for the ranger presence 24/7! One of the old buildings here is even set up as the ranger's residence.

Although he does survival stuff mainly, this was part of a short series of documentaries about the opening up of the West, a subject which he says has always fascinated him.
