Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge
Navajo Reservation & Lake Powell, Utah, USA. From an old slide. During the extremely high water year of 1980.

This was as high as the water had ever gotten to that time. It got a bit higher, of course, during the flood of 1983, when the spillways at both Hoover and Glen Canyon were used for the first (and only) time, but AFAIK it hasn't been that high since!

Thanks, everyone! We felt privileged to see it at this water level--altho it's bad for the bridge, as per the comments above! At Lake Powell's current level, you have to dock and walk up to it. My understanding is that it's not even visible from the lake. The Navajos probably also charge for a permit, as it's on the reservation.
