Building, Tunnel camp

Building, Tunnel camp
Seven Troughs District, Pershing County, Nevada, USA. "Tunnel Camp" got its name because it was the exit point of a long tunnel that drained the mines in the main part of the district. This looks like part of the mill site.

Any mine that gets below the water table--which, for a mine of any size at all, means any mine--will have to remove water, either by pumping or (if there's an area at lower elevation not too far away) by draining. Pump technology is at the point that modern mines usually find it more cost-effective to just pump the water out.
