From A Friend
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "INSET AND ADD-ON PHOTOS (Photos on postcards, calling cards, etc.)".
This postcard is made of tree bark - or perhaps a thin cut of wood of some kind. The only thing printed on the back is:
Patented Apr. 3 1906
JWN Company
The "friend" is a cheery looking woman, but her fancy dress, necklace and parasol, seem a little fashion-inappropriate next to the moose, or whatever it is.

Alan Mays has particularly liked this photo

What fun! The contrast between the woman's finery (love the parasol!) and the moose (looks like it's outlined in glitter!) does provide some amusing incongruity.

I'm sure people of that period would be aghast at most of what is common today but this is weird and so appealing. What has an elk got to do with friendship? What is the tale behind the card? Is she seeking admittance to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks? Another mystery left to tantalize the members of the VPTP.
