"Horsey, Horsey, Don't You Stop!"

"Horsey, Horsey, Don't You Stop!"
The title is the song we sing when our kids are rocking on our rocking horse. (See Family Rocking Horse Album, if interested).
Uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of "Rocking Horses".
This is a found photo with no information on the back. I'm guessing this is 1930s/40s.
Found in Burlington, Vermont n April 2016.

Alan Mays, Claudine Gaulier-Denis, arts enthusiast and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Yes! (Probably an old English music hall song).

Horsey, horsey, don't you stop.
Just let your feet go clippety-clop.
Your tail go swish, and the wheels go round.
Giddy-up we're homeward bound.
We ain't in a hurry, we ain't in a scurry,
So don't go tearing down the road.
We ain't in a hustle, we ain't in a bustle,
We ain't got a very heavy load, so...
Horsey, horsey, etc.

Oh, now this is adorable! And like lisabee73, I have never heard the 2nd verse, even though I collect Mother Goose books. (But I'm no expert on the rhymes). How surprising to hear the word 'ain't' in a Nursery Rhyme. Makes me want to do more research on this one. :)

Hi Ellie - I grew up knowing this, possibly learning from our London Cockney neighbors in England. I suspect it is more likely to be an English music hall song which is very roughly equivalent to Vaudville. I've never really thought about it, but it will be interesting to see if you can discover more!

Cute kid, neat horse, and great song--never heard of a rocking horse song before!

Thanks, Alan. My kids would eye- roliingly tell you that I have a song for every occasion. : )

A fine fellow with a lovely team. That song is new to me as well. You surprised me with this one. I thought you'd put up one of that beautiful old family rocking horse you have.

haha. Thanks, Rick I assume you mean the Victorian one with Brian's grandfather and not one from the "Family Rocking Horse".
It WAS a little hard not to use that, I admit, but this one was recently bought in April and not used before - so that trumped Harry King's photo! : )
