If You Want To Get A Head - 3 April 2014

If you have not been on a submarine, it is worth a visit to appreciate just how cramped the conditions are or, at least, were on older vessels such as HMS Alliance. Nowhere was more cramped than the toilets, known on a ship as the head or heads. Some protruding objects above the rudimentary seats were padded to protect against injury when rising with inattentive relief from a hurried download.

Alliance reopened today after a substantial refurbishment which included the dressing of the interior to represent operational conditions. This is one of a short series of shots from inside.
