Shepherd Serenade


Singer, pianist, vaudeville performer, actor and songwriter Lanny Ross attended Yale University, Columbia Law School and the Juilliard School of Music. Lanny recorded "Shepherd Serenade" (Kermit Goell - Fred Spielman) in August, 1941.

Harry Sosnik conducted the orchestra for Bing Crosby's version of "Shepherd Serenade" in November. The single reached number five. Composer Kermit Goell was the lyrist for "Near You" while Fred (Fritz) Spielman co-authored "Paper Roses" and "It Only Hurts For A Little While".
