How Do I Live
"How Do I Live" was written for the star studded movie "Con Air". Teenager LeAnn Rimes was first to record "How Do I Live" (Diane Warren) as a single that appeared in an extended version on the 1997 album "You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs". The single reached number two on the Top One Hundred and stayed on that chart for sixty-nine weeks! The track was not in the film because it was deemed to be too pop.
Trisha Yearwood was asked to record "How Do I Live" and succeeded in being included in the movie but not on the soundtrack. Both the Rimes and Yearwood versions were released at the same time. Trisha peaked at number twenty-three pop and number two Country when her MCA label stopped pressing the tune for fear of hurting album sales! Wikipedia: "In 1998, for the first time in history, the Grammy Awards nominated two artists for the same song in the same category. Directly following Rimes' performance of the song, Yearwood won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Yearwood also performed the song at the Country Music Association for which she won the 1997 award for Female Vocalist of the Year. Yearwood also won the 1997 Academy of Country Music Award for Top Female Vocalist."
