Rockin' Chair
Because of time constraints I had to edit the lengthy introduction to the original Clarence Reid's "Rockin' Chair" (C. Reid - W. Clarke). The 1974 single was issued as a B side. The late Clarence was also known as Blowfly and appeared on stage in costume to protect his identity while he sang explicit lyrics.
Gwen McCrae covered "Rockin' Chair" in 1975. Like the original it was produced by Steve Alaimo, Clarence Reid and Willie Clark. The single peaked at number nine on the Billboard Top One Hundred at the same time it topped the Soul chart.
