I Believe
Supposedly written at the request of singer Jane Froman for her fifteen minute (normal for the time) CBS television show, "I Believe" (Drake - Graham - Shirl - Stillman) peaked at number eleven on Billboard in 1953. This was the first recorded hit to be introduced on television. Jane's life story was covered in the 1952 movie "With a Song In My Heart".
Just weeks after Jane Froman recorded "I Believe" Frankie Laine ended up with the bigger hit reaching number two and staying on the chart for nineteen weeks. The session was recorded in Hollywood and the single was even bigger in the U.K.
