I think, the bees now eat the honey herself ;) --- Übersetzt von Google. --- Ich denke, die Bienen essen den Honig jetzt selbst

Hallo Karsten ... I did not find this tattered nest until it had been abandoned by its residents; which I think were probably hornets not honeybees. Hornets feed their larvae directly with chewed-up bits of fruit and insect fragments (feed their young like seagulls do, I guess). So no honey in this nest ... which is best left alone in Summer when inhabited, to avoid an assault by multiple stinging hornets.
Beste Grüße, Wally

Nobody home! Wasps, or hornets? If this doesn't give you the creeps, nothing will: www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqCV7g9dmCw Nice capture, Wally!

... hey, thanks for the link: I've always liked El Camino's (though they didn't have much of a payload). This one probably can be had for cheap, though it will certainly need a new headliner.
Then YouTube linked me into adjacent videos, and I ended up watching dash-cam clips of Russian snowy high-speed vehicle crashes for an hour ... aargh!!

Hahaha! That ALWAYS happens to me, in fact, my brother and I were trying to one-up each other about stupid things we watch on Youtube. I won with Russian dashcam accidents! Anyway, I am distracted for ages whenever I get a link to YT - without fail. Next thing I know it's 1 a.m. and I have no idea how I got to the mean scare pranks and wedding reception fights.
