City of Leicester Holiday Express!

City of Leicester Holiday Express!
Always a great subject for photographers!

One guy who was stood behind me had a tripod about 10 metres tall.. (Why, I don't know, he could have simply stood on the bridge!)

The inside of the cafe on the railway station is here:- www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/52078868

Nouchetdu38, Pam J, Erhard Bernstein, Trevor King and 20 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you so much for your very kind visit.
Glad you like it.
Unfortunately this railway is getting rather boring to visit, as all the good views are disappearing.
This was a real last minute bonus!

Admirable et excellente capture bien partagée ..C'est toujours intéressant de voir les vielles choses qu'on utilise toujours encore plus les vieilles locomotives à vapeur ..
Bonne et agréable semaine.

Looks very different from when we were there. Same place as the pic below, but now a housing estate, but a little gap in the hedge..
Best Wishes, and keep safe,

I would have been shocked if you hadn't taken a photo of a train for our event!

This one is really nice. I like the foliage in the foreground framing the train. This train says holiday on the front - was there some holiday it was running for on the 19th?

Did you ever even consider photographing something else for the event? (This isn't a challenge, just a curiosity.)

Hi Laura ,
Your visit is most welcome. Thank you.
I am so happy that you like the scene.
Unfortunately not a special holiday, just a bit of nostalgia for the 1960's when excursions were common.
In fact I did consider many things, and took over 100 pictures that day, reducing it to 19 possible (including the one linked below, and another to come on Friday), However, to get best chance of a nice picture I went with what I know, and what I can do well.
Best Wishes, and keep safe,
Peter

Nostolgia is good too!

I think it's cool that you took so many photos and then edited down. I never seem to have the time for all that editing. My backlog is way too big.

Thanks for the link to the other photo. (Commented on it over there)

Hi Laura ,
Your second visit is most welcome. Thank you.
I always take the 'machine gun' approach, as I am not good enough to figure out what compositions will work and what won't, so I try loads, very little of which is successful.
My thinking goes.. Just suppose you were walking through the woods and a big wild animal came running towards you. Which weapon would you prefer, a rifle (which shoots once), a revolver (which shoots six), or a machine gun (which shoots hundreds)? Which would give you best chance of survival...?
Best Wishes, and keep safe,
Peter

A fine shot Peter. No complaints from me that you chose the Great Central for your contribution to World Photography Day. I was on the 8F that afternoon!

Hi Pete ,
Thank you for visiting!
I am so happy that you like the scene.
It was a last minute decision to come here, otherwise I would have let you know.
I do have one photo of the 8F in Quorn station with a crew member (driver with hat on?) checking the platform before moving off, but not the best photo ever... And another with the 8F tender first pulling empty mineral wagons and fireman looking out. If either are you, I'll post them!
