Sierra de La Cabrera. Granite is great under foot when conditions are dry. You need to be careful with early morning dew. Rain makes it a very different kettle of fish, And any hint of ice, well - forget it and come back when things warm up and dry out!!

I remember this was a particularly hot day in late September.. The saving grace was that it was cooler than Madrid on the plain!

I remember this as being an extremely hot August day. But the light was very good.
The distant mountain is La Bola Del Mundo, thought for centuries by the good folk of Madrid to be the highest mountain in the world! (It's not even the highest mountain in La Sierra de Guadarrama!)

A minor Roman road - not linking any major towns - probably built for transport of minerals mined in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
But well preserved in a few places such as this. Elsewhere all the stones have been half-inched for wall construction!
