Camp Cameron

Camp Cameron was the US Forces army base for black service personnel in the UK in WWII. They were placed here, in Out-Of-The-Way Cornwall so as not to frighten the poor timid natives. Joe Louis was based here and wrote that he was bored out of his mind!
Now, no trace remains of the camp which was situated above St Agnes Head.

Taken in Spring 2014, please ignore the exif date - always wrong in this camera and no one has been able to fix it!
This is an area due for complete redevelopment. It lies between the Four Towers and Chamartin Station and has been an eyesore since the beginning of the recession (except for a few weeks in Spring!).
I did have to remove a few beer cans and empty cigarette packets first!

Another view of this far southwest corner of Cornwall, granite in the foreground, Land's End in the far distance. In the middle distance at the left, The Cot Valley running into the sea, once very heavily industrialised (tin mines). Low tide.

Small island and even smaller island as seen from the South West Peninsula Coast Path at Newdown's Head, Cornwall.
Roman Road near El Escorial.

A minor Roman road - not linking any major towns - probably built for transport of minerals mined in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
But well preserved in a few places such as this. Elsewhere all the stones have been half-inched for wall construction!

Garden, Saint Day.
I make no excuses for posting another photo from my mother's garden. In any case, I haven't posted as many as some people seem to think and none for a few months!!

Moggaraz

Moggaraz is a very pleasant (and touristy) town in the Sierra de Francia, Salamanca Province. All of Its 300 odd inhabitants in 1967 agreed to have their photos taken and large-scale paintings were taken from those photos and placed on the walls of their homes, some years later. Whether you find this strange or superb, it it is certainly different! Whoever pitched this concept to these naturally conservative and cautious country folk must have been a sales genius!

It actually is a rock window but I couldn't get the whole frame in the shot without falling off the cliff edge behind me. ... And that I would not do, even for my art!! :o)

I can't now remember how this came about but I liked it and tarted it up a bit in editing. Originally done in 2013 and first posted in ipernity in 2017.
