The problem of trying to snap bats!

The problem of trying to snap bats!
They were out in force this dusk just gone and they are hard to capture at the best of times but this is their time when they feast on the plenty of mosquitos we unfortuntely get here, especially at the start of a heat wave (coming now). I sometimes try to capture them in honour of the sterling job they do (I react badly to mosquito bites!).
I can only find two and I thought I had got a dozen or so in shot!

Bit of a mistake in many ways, William but thank you, anyway!

I see the bats, but not the mosquitoes. Nice sunset colors.

They are so unbelievably fast! I think even the fastest shutter speeds couldn't catch them in focus;-)

Nice try Andy..........but realistically you're. not going to get a decent shot of bats in flight on your phone. Most are taken using specialist equipment.

Having said that, the consolation is that this is a gorgeous image with lovely light and colours!

(Sitting back now, and waiting for someone to produce an excellent phone shot of a bat in flight, just to prove me wrong)!

It's a beautiful photo of this landscape, nevertheless Andy. Those bats are so small anyway, that you should be happy that you managed to take a picture of them.

Thank you, everyone but I won't be repeating the exercise. I just had to try though as these bats are my friends and form a not insignificant part of every evening at sundown!

Never mind, Andy. It is still a fine shot of sunset and landscape!

Anything that eats mosquitos is good in my book. As Keith indicates, you have done well considering you are using your phone. Even when trying to follow bats with a DSLR it is nearly impossible to catch those tiny flashes of movement. We try to avoid Scotland when the wee midges are flying. Nice attempt here. well done.

Generous of you Herb. I dreaded a two week climbing trip to Skye with the university climbing club back in 78 as my only previous experience of the Northwest of Scotland had been a midge infested few days also in a July. Fortunately the weather wss glorious and we didn't see a single midge! The following year's climbing trip there in September was a different story and I love the place but would think twice in the future! I wonder if Pipistrelles might like it there?
