High brown fritillary on white buddleia.

High brown fritillary on white buddleia.
Argynnis adippe, the high brown fritillary, is a large and brightly coloured butterfly of the family Nymphalidae, native to Europe and across the Palearctic to Japan. It is known for being Great Britain's most threatened butterfly and is listed as a vulnerable species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Wikipedia
Seems common enough here, especlally around this buddleia bush in Central Spain.

Nearest I can get to an ID is a Dark Green Fritillary Andy. Have a google when you have time and see what you think Next best guess is one of the Brown Fritillary species. All seem to quite common in Spain.

Cracking shot though, especially for a phone!

My daughter much prefers to use her phone for photos nowadays. She says that it gives much better pictures than her camera. As to the butterfly, no idea I'm afraid, but as they all say - it's a beautiful picture of it as well as the white buddleia
