Mechanics

Mechanics
A detail that I took earlier this year. Mechanics that made life easier for people at a certain time. It makes you think about progress, it makes you think about where it all will end....It made me think about Chaplin's last silent film 'Modern Times', the 'Factory' scene.

Hi, Peter !
I like such technical details, specially in b/w.
But here I also like your thoughts .... who's subject, who's object ?
Sometimes it seems, in a www-world we are all in Chaplin's situation - we are only a small piece of the big wheel.

There is a progress paradox: by many measurements life for many improves....hunger is less, disease is treated, more people have the resources to live dignified, creative lives across the world in many societies. Yet we focus on the Bad News: conflict, disaster, the environment. It’s important, in our privileged lives, not to not sink into self-pity. Chaplin’s heroic little man continues to inspire. Oh, and the photograph is great!
