Das Bauwerk wurde 1981 am Strand von Binz / Insel Rügen als Rettungsstation errichtet.
Nach Sanierung 2018 wird es heute als Trauraum des Standesamtes genutzt.
Architekt war Ulrich Müther (1934 - 2007) - ein deutscher Bauingenieur und Bauunternehmer.
Er entwarf und baute 74 Schalen-Bauwerke - sog. doppelt gekrümmte Beton-Schalentragwerke u.a: "Teepott" in Warnemünde,"Stadthalle" in Neubrandenburg, "Radrennbahn" in Havanna / Kuba.
Er wurde dadurch zu einem bedeutenden Repräsentanten der architektonischen Moderne. Der Bau war zeitaufwändig, aber materialsparend.
