I miss going into a store like this. I hope they still carry some Americana, General Store-type things. (The general store down at my grandparents, growing up, had an assortment of penny candies we couldn't get back in the bigger city.)

This closed as a real store sometime in the early 2000s and has been various non-profitable enterprises since then. I think there is still a good market for refreshments, as it's next to a major state hiking/biking trail - as well as this highway. The next place to buy a milkshake or a sandwich is a long dry, hot drive east. Oh well...

I know what you mean, my childhood experience with a true general store (everything from cowboy boots to mouse traps to lipstick to canned peas) was near my grandparents' South Dakota ranch. I can still smell the inside!

At least there is parking space in the shade! At the moment we have temperatures around 35 to 37°C (97°F) here in Middle Europe! every shady place is welcome!

Oh, that's HOT. Our heatwave will arrive, I just don't know when. It has been cool for a few days, so I will enjoy it while it lasts. Last summer was horrible - all smoke and all heat from June until the end of Sept.

WOW, I heard on the news it was 110F (43.3C) in some areas of France today!!! ;-o
