Mid-50s, possibly a Kenworth. This man had a yard full of rust, which he graciously let me photograph. As always when I meet a local logger - retired or otherwise - he knew my logging family.

Andy Rodker, Berny, Gudrun, Gabi Lombardo and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

Nope, but my grandfather and two uncles all owned logging companies and my dad worked for one of them until 1962. He then moved us to San Jose, California, thank goodness! (By the way, we don't use the term lumberjack, or at least I've never heard it used in Oregon or California.)

Ok on lumberjack, it was a general sort of word here in the past for that sort of work in both North American countries.

That makes sense. I was curious and looked it up. Wikipedia says the word is of Canadian origin.

And, of course, for those of us of a certain generation the immediate association is the Monty Python skit-- ;)

IIRC the usual term here is "logger."

All I know is that when I was a child, when anyone said "lumberjack," we knew they were from a big city or from back east, according to the adults.

Hehe...well...I don't socialize with them. Their political blathering, which they're quick to share, can ruin my day. ;-(
