I think about 10 minutes. This train was very long, but about average for a freight train in western USA.

I'm not unsure. They're Quonset huts, here. Our army based them on your army's Nissen huts sometime between wars I and II. Ours have a wider arc than yours, no dip-in at the bottom. I love them and think it would be fun to live in one! There are still around, mainly in rural areas, and even several companies that make them as barns, workshops, garages, warehouses, etc.
