A Latterbarrow view.

A Latterbarrow view.
A vintage view from this popular peak overlooking England’s largest lake: Windermere. In the distance we see the village of Ambleside guarded by the peaks of ‘Fairfield Peak’ (snowy outcrops) on the left , ‘Red Scree’ centre and ‘Ill Bell’ (pointed Peak) on the right.
On this side of the lake, in the woods, we can just about see Wray castle too. See PiP

Enjoy.

A wonderful view of the lake and surrounding landscape Herb..............especially when viewed large.

The distant peaks make a magnificent background and I love the colours, particularly the wonderful brown of the dead bracken in the foreground. The whole image has a painterly feel to it.

Nice to see the "castle" again too!

Great that you have liked this Lake District view of long ago for me. I have to admit that it does look quite attractive here. The original taken with my first proper digital camera was a little underexposed and so I turned up the knobs a bit, maybe making that 'painterly look' a little more pronounced. Just shows us that we must not totally discard these old captures.

Best Wishes. Herb

A very attractive scene here Herb and beautifully captured. I love the layers - so much to enjoy and the light and colours are wonderful. I love that sky!

Thanks Carol. I had completely forgotten about this capture. In fact I have quite a few more of my once frequent trips to the Lakes that were previously on Panoramio and I hope to post here. The sky, as Keith points out has a painterly look about it but I never tried to concoct it so.

Cheers. Herb

A lovely landscape, Herb, and a very substantial castle in the PiP.
