Canal walk at Sowerby Bridge

Canal walk at Sowerby Bridge
The nice thing about our British weather is that after weeks of none-stop rain and dullness it can suddenly come beautiful. Taking advantage f such a day we visited a small Yorkshire town mad famous by its canal and railway connections. Here we are on the wide 'Calder & Hebble Navigational' with the Copley Viaduct passing over us. Just to my right here is the River Calder too.

We have to take advantage of what we have when we can Steve. A new place for me but many similarities to our Saddleworth village canals here. Was a great walk -very pleased you liked it.

Not much autumn colour left but I like the fallen leaves lining the canal path and the few yellow leaves in the trees. The archway is really lovely and I like the partial reflection in the canal. The view through the archway is superb and there's a nice balance between the light and shadow areas. Very nice indeed Herb!

Thanks Keith. Still quite bronze looking in the sunshine but as you say, most leaves have now fallen. I took a lot of photos of this canal so choosing what to put here is a nice problem. In fact the canal and the reflections looked better from the other side but this did the inside of the bridge better. So glad that you enjoyed it.

Hi again Toz. You will now then what an interesting place Sowerby Bridge is. A great time too to walk around Langsett Reservoir. I have never been to that one but I see now that it is only a bit further from the Woodhead resr where we were the other week. Look forward to your pics too.

Hi Dave, aye it was a rare good day -maybe today too? We had never been to Sowerby Bridge before and so it was a good chance. The canal basin here is very interesting and the canal itself quite different from our local Huddersfield Narrow, as it quite wide. A lot of pictures taken but not many will see the light of day I am afraid. (You know the feeling too I expect.)
