The mighty Matterhorn
The Matterhorn (Monte Cervino) at 4,478 metres (14,692 ft) is certainly an impressive mountain, in fact one of the highest in the Alps and Europe. This Eastern face is taken from Switzerland near the iconic village of Zermat, some time back in 1986 whilst on a skiing holiday in Cervinia on its Italian side. A Fuji slide conversion, dormant after its projection many years ago and then conversion in 2012, until today.
As always, better full screen.

Daniela Brocca club has replied to Herb Riddle clubThe funny thing is, most Swiss never go up there, they leave that up to the tourists. I didn't visit until I was married to an American, and of course, that day was pea-soup weather and we couldn't see a thing ....
BTW, it's not the highest peak in the alps (Mont Blanc is considerably higher), but arguably the most photogenic.
Herb Riddle club has replied to Sarah P. clubI had already known that this was not the highest Sarah, that is why I stated 'one of the highest' in my introduction. ....Ah, I see what I did wrong now, a typo 'one OR the highest in the Alps' within my intro. Ooops. - Thanks for the heads up Sarah. - I believe this is the sixth highest in the Alps, as you say after: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, Dom, Liskamm and the Weisshorn. As you also say, arguably, in my opinion too, the most photogenic. I have it too from the Italian side Thanks for this visit and giving me the opportunity to revise my Alpine mountain heights again too.
Cheers, Herb

Keith Burton club has replied to Herb Riddle clubI always remember the crushing disappointment of opening a packet of photos that you'd waited ages for, only to find they were all rubbish..!!

Very nice picture, especially considering the technology of the day.
I visited Zermatt, and went to the spot from where it was supposed to be visible, but too misty. I took a shot anyway, hoping some enhancement may help, but no.
I am pleased that you have such a great result here.
Best Wishes, and a Good Weekend
Peter
