Lowry Days

Lowry Days
A blast from the past. This old slide taken some forty odd years ago reminds us of the latest past Winter and the old joys of enjoying the snow. This hill has now changed somewhat with new apartments etc covering the top edge and certainly no access to the public any more. The title and photo is reminiscent to the style of our famous Salford artist L.S Lowry. Enjoy.

David Slater (Spoddendale), , Peter_Private_Box, Elaine and 7 other people have particularly liked this photo

A timeless image Herb............it could have been taken at any time in the last 50 years! The title is spot on for the style of shot too.

Excellent quality for such an old slide photo.

Thanks Keith. This has done-the-rounds now but it still has a timeless appeal to it, I see. Thanks for enjoying this with me, Herb.
ps this digital conversion has gradually improved as my software has got better. I think the white certainly helps. The slide was between glass for some years before I scanned it. Of course, I still have the original slide too.

Hi Herb,

It does look very 'Lowry', with so many people (no dogs that I can see), and a nice reminder for us that winter used to be like this. What do we get these days... elf n safety stops it, and kid sit at home (or McDonalds) playing on iphones!
Gets a big star from me!

Best wishes, and Happy Easter!

We are of the same mind Peter. I know from my grandchildren that phones and palm-tops rule the day as far as activities are concerned. I was excited over such things when they first came out many years ago now, but I've since changed my tune. In there defence, I did in fact see some sledge tracks on our local hills -no doubt very young children accompanied by their parents, for as you say the dreaded H&S officer might be around the corner :)

Very happy you like this blast from the past. Happy Easter Monday, Herb
