Pencil Nebula NGC 2736
This is what I have slowly been working towards. This is a Narrow Band Photo of the Nebula But a RGB set of stars on top. RGB stars are in effect the normal stars you get when you take a photo with a one shot colour camera or a DSLR. the Narrow Band stars all very different colours whereas RGB stars look more natural. The other thing you can see the rainbow effect that the solid front spider gives to the flares on the star.
The key is to have all the files stack together so they are the same size work on the narrow band throw away the stars. Work on the RGB throw away the background combine the Narrowband Nebula and the RGB stars to make the final photos.
This has used all the filters to make the two photos to make one. The big advantage of this is the amount of detail that the Narrow band filters bring out than you get with a One shot colour camera. Is it all worth it on my screen it sure is but I also have more days clear than most to be able to do it.

Its very simple to use shows me where in the sky and movements. I try not to complicate things as its already complicated enough. The program of Nina has a huge memory of targets I just have to write it in RCW38 and it finds it this is the next one you will see.
Cheers. Herb
Steve Paxton club has replied to Herb Riddle clubMaybe I should also have here all three shot so everyone can see what looks like nothing comes to life. as I never take the shots further than combine then delete I dont have those images. next shot I am in the process of getting I will take the B/W shots up to Jpeg stage as well. Its is more work but I think the result is worth the effort and I am lucky I tend to have clearer skies than most. I gave the advice to Guy not to go B/W as he has far less clear night and farless night that are not down past -20 that a gear can function in. In his place I would only use a one shot colour camera as the number of nights he has is not really enough.
Many thanks glad you like the shot I think can only get better with more done.
Herb Riddle club has replied to Steve Paxton clubI look forward to more. Cheers. Herb
Steve Paxton club has replied to Herb Riddle clubDoing B/w printing you can understand thing coming alive as you go through all the steps. as I edit I write it down all setting so in the end the final is easier to edit. In all about 2 pages on a A4 pad through all the editing programs. For a photographer that takes photos and does less than 1 min editing those photos Deep space came as a shock no such thing as 1min processing. I know I do far less than Carlos does but I am happy as these are what I set out to take and the quality of shot I wanted.
Keeps the mind very busy and not resting.....
This is a very nice set of pictures, which I like very much!
As always I am so amazed by what you come up with. We never get clear skies here...
Best Wishes, a nice weekend, and stay safe!!
Peter
