Skull and Cross bones Nebula NGC 2467

26 Jan 2024 19 8 90
This is 4 nights worth of images plenty of moon light but Narrow band is totally unaffected by moonlight. I have to say this looks to me more like a Angel with Blue Wings. This is in the Hubble pallet as my wife like that version better than the Red/Blue of Ha O3 SII. Contrast the same camera but colour version. This is the last Image with the ZWO narrow band filters and start with Antlia narrow band filters. The big up side better data and O3 does not have the huge halo of the ZWO filters. The filters have been sitting since December 9 at the airport with no explanation why till I rang up, "why". I received them yesterday so tonight its start working with the setting up "offsets" and Flats only then can I actually use them. I will test out on the same image to see the difference between the two sets. QHY 183M -10c QHYCFW 7 Filter wheel Seven ZWO 36mm unmounted astro filters. RCW 38 - do look at this full screen.

22 Jan 2024 19 11 114
An area I have always known of but never looked at it . So for every body benefit what follows is a look at the process. Remember this a B/W camera with different coloured filters, you will note that while they are all B/W the detail in each is very different to the rest. RCW 38 is 100% center of shot A star forming region of space..... Remember this is all new to me as well as I feel my way. Ha shows up the Hydrogen in the shot and as the most abundant element out in space, the Ha shot has the most detail. SII shows up the sulphur component in the shot O3 shows up the Oxygen component in the shot. In this shot you can see why I have purchased a new set of narrow band filters the huge halo on the big star. The Narrow band stars and why you have a better chance with RGB stars Once Combined in Pixinsight in what order depends the colours you get this is Combined in the Hubble pallet SII Ha O3 3: 30 hours of stacking all the shot at the same time, 1:30 H in editing to get this shot quite a lot of the process on my old computer take 5 min or more to run, this is why the time for editing is so high. You can see why this is so popular as a way of shooting the stars far more detail and finer detail than a normal colour camera. Close by is the Vela Super Nova Area QHY 183M -10c QHYCFW 7 Filter wheel Seven ZWO 36mm unmounted astro filters. Ha O3 SII 90 shots each filter 5 min over 4 nights. Pencil Nebula NGC 2736

15 Jan 2024 18 13 98
This is what I have slowly been working towards. This is a Narrow Band Photo of the Nebula But a RGB set of stars on top. RGB stars are in effect the normal stars you get when you take a photo with a one shot colour camera or a DSLR. the Narrow Band stars all very different colours whereas RGB stars look more natural. The other thing you can see the rainbow effect that the solid front spider gives to the flares on the star. The key is to have all the files stack together so they are the same size work on the narrow band throw away the stars. Work on the RGB throw away the background combine the Narrowband Nebula and the RGB stars to make the final photos. This has used all the filters to make the two photos to make one. The big advantage of this is the amount of detail that the Narrow band filters bring out than you get with a One shot colour camera. Is it all worth it on my screen it sure is but I also have more days clear than most to be able to do it. QHY 183M -10c QHYCFW 7 Filter wheel Seven ZWO 36mm unmounted astro filters. Thors Helmet NGC2359

04 Jan 2024 14 8 82
This Is a Narrow band shot of Thors helmet using two filter's Ha Red colour and O3 Blue colour to get the colour photo with the B/W camera. A lot of detail has come out of using the filters as well. Slowly coming to terms with the world of filters one of the drawbacks I am not able to rotate the filter wheel without upsetting the balance of the mount. the shot needed to be rotated a few degrees to the right to square up the wings on the helmet. As it was just two filters I took 110 shot with each filter to make up this shot Combined in the Pallet of Ha O3 O3 to get the colours you see here much like the pure colour shot from before. No snow here, no hot Christmas meals so projected Christmas lunch in Australia will be a total of 22 tones of prawns Australia wide. On a Projected 36c day mostly Cold prawns. This sprung up on the way to the school just begging for a Photo. On real close look they all look homemade and made very well. From Down under All the Best for your Christmas hope you have a great time with your family . May you all enjoy a great Christmas and know we are one big family..

Cosmic Bat NGC1788

My first coloured photo with the Mono camera using the 4 filters that make up the coloured photo. LRGB or Luminous , Red, Green and Blue just like a DSLR can only be shot when there is no moon light. This is not as easy as a one shot coloured camera... Carlo's version With Narrow band filters. The last piece of the Puzzle a Mask on the main mirror to stop the light scatter out the side of the Mirror. Screwed on but then flocking over screw to hide the screw. The view looking down the tube at the main mirror. you will notice the centers of the Stars are much cleaner no flare to the sides so a much finer star. The solid spider shows the colours given off by the Star so the 4 vanes are coloured. We are ready to Rock and Roll QHY 183M -10c QHYCFW 3 Filter wheel Seven ZWO 36mm unmounted astro filters. 360 degrees of view

14 Jan 2014 12 5 75
This was taken at 10:30 pm, by this time we were hit with the 10 knot winds trying to guide a big telescope in winds this strong is just not possible. you can clearly see the effect of the wind all 54 photos where the same do a different degree. At this point every body had "turned in" but the sounds of the Astro tents flapped and made noise to match a harbour full of yachts that did not take down there sails or tethered them in the strong winds. The noise was deafening from the three astro tents as the winds increased through the night. This is very much how I use to view the stars as a kid in the Islands but here you can still see "Perth" in the distance. After this I went to "bed" but was woken by crashings about me my hide was still sound but I was not going outside you got blown away. In the morning one tent frame was crushed by the wind pole fell on a cable to the mount and cut it. The other tent next to me was the crash the pole fell on the mount and jammed it from moving. What I did see at 2 am in the morning a href="http://www.ipernity.com/doc/1073393/49755956"> I could clearly see the Octans high in the sky with out any extra equipment they where that vivid. once you have spent your night looking for then on a computer you can not ever miss that shape of the bowel. In the morning I packed it up as I saw the Wind forcast had changed to 15 Knots no point being here better to go home. As this was a wheat farm all my equipment and car had to be cleaned of the straw blown about in the winds. It was in everything including the Telescope. It was rather interesting my car is not small but a large SUV it was blown about on the road as you came out of the trees to open farmland. It will be a while before I go back. I did not sleep much so got up early and walked the farm in the early morning light... these will follow.

The Hopefuls' on the Hill:- The Fools On the Hill.

Friday after leaving home at 10:30am to go out to the dark site over two hours out of Perth. It was a case of setting up for the night and the small winds predicted............ As the sun went down the nightmare began.

Busselton Jetty - The Real "Big One".

27 Nov 2023 14 11 78
We went on the Brother in laws bus for a trip for the day down to Busselton for breakfast and Lunch in the Park. On the way down I went on the internet just how long is the jetty I got quite a shock. Having Walked the jetty with my parents 2005 note the big change to the whole jetty. I asked two of the brother in law Who is up for a train ride. For the cost of $16 dollars and all proceeds to the up keep of the jetty its a no brainer. you think its short but in reality 1841 m long the longest in the Southern Hemisphere but only "dwarfed" by Southend Pier 2158m long only 310m longer. Just love the note on the sign " you are out to Sea". Its good to see the end of the pier fixed up and now part of the Whole last time I walked out it was just the stumps of the legs. The trip home was a real eye opener on the bend. Just how the Train works its a truck with tyres but has railway wheels to follow the tracks and you can see why it does not travel fast as the bend the railway wheels hang off the Track as it follows the bend. This is looking from shore out to the jetty where it was originally from but for the train you will not an almost straight line out to the end.
