Yes, they are in the same group "brushfoots", and the red admiral also lives in North America. This red-spotted purple is in the same genus and the viceroy www.ipernity.com/doc/1050739/47165994 . I am really amazed at how many kinds of butterflies there are.

I saw another Monarch today but she had a quick feed and sailed onward. We had a breezy day and she was taking advantage of it. She has a long way to go to the Sanctuaries.

Sehr schön; dort gibt es offenbar noch deutlich mehr Schmetterlinge als hier. Vor 50 Jahren etwa waren die Wiesen und Wälder hier auch voll mit den schönsten Faltern.
