It is good to see the path. The weather was good this day, but at this high altitude, clouds and storms can come suddenly.

Thank you very much, Annemarie. It was a very long day walking across this desolate area.

This is how I imagine a lunar landscape. The open crater in particular is impressive, as if a piece of mountain top had been blown away! All the best, Ronald, for the remaining 51 weeks of 2021....

That is exactly what happened here. The mountain had blown much of its top off. Fortunately, I was not there at the time. However, Google "white island eruption" to see a similar event not so far from this place.

Stunning landscape and a wonderful image.
Missed that part of New Zealand because the weather was not good enough for the crossing.

We were there in autumn (April). The day started quite cool, but mid-day was a bit too warm for comfort. It was quite an amazing all-day hike.

A stark but beautiful landscape, nicely composed.

Thank you very much, Doug. It is one of the most alien places I have ever visited.

It has been acting up lately. Might come to nothing....but may not. Glad you enjoyed your visit over here.
