Spider. p1040165
A cute jumping spider. It attacked the camera lens when I was trying to get its photo: I think it saw its reflection and thought it was another spider. (June, 2010)
Thanks to Xata who further identified it as a wall jumping spider (Menemerus bivittalus).

Although I have a certain apprehension for all animals with more than four legs, I find this spider nice. He even seems to pose for the camera. All the best, Anton.

The focus on the eyes is excellent!

I had a similar experience to yours with a related specimen.
It was 3 mm at most, and it seemed amused by my efforts to photograph it
while it was constantly moving. I was at least as amused, couldn't help but laugh,
even though I haven't managed a really sharp photo of them yet.
I do not give up hope. :))

Look into its eyes.
Observe their ingenious abilities.
They are perfect hunters, and also always in a joking mood.
At least, that's how their 'jumpiness' could be interpreted. :)
They are tiny and are (rightly) more afraid of humans than you are of them. ;)

No, no! :) They are really cute. I agree with * ઇઉ * completely. I also laughed when it suddenly jumped at the lens then back so I could take its picture :)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!! Look at that cutie pie!! OUTSTANDING DETAILS! :) Oh, how I adore the spiders! I was relating to Keith Burton the other day about a jumping spider I saw in our house, making rounds:

...a couple of days ago, I noticed a black speck on the wall. Figuring what it was I leaned close and squeaked in happiness as it turned around and stared up at me--"Oh how I love you, little jumping spider!" Leaving it to continue its patrol, I would see it making its way down the hallway over the next couple of hours. Then, just before bed I was in our bathroom when I noticed a black speck near the floor, sitting on a baseboard. Not sure, I reached down with a gentle finger and lightly touched the speck...the speck turned and backed away, eliciting a gleeful giggle from me. "My little friend! I hope you've found some tasty meals!" At that I turned the light off and left it to a nocturnal hunt. Haven't seen it since but keep hoping for another gander! :)
And here was the picture he shared: Spider Warning..!! Move along if you don't like them........

Did you remove the "insects" keyword that you put in? Curious, because I did not and just noticed that it is no longer there.

Xata club has replied to micritter
I didn't... weird !

OK now I know what happened. I had reported what looked like a bug to Ipernity in that I had set "who can add keywords, notes" to "only me" but anybody could add notes and note and keywords, which looked to me to be a bug in the software. So in response to my report, they removed the keyword that was added by you (they could tell whether the keyword was added by me or not). I didn't expect them to do that as I could remove the keyword myself (as I had done earlier). They seem to think that this may not be a bug (in which case I don't see the reason for the option.... Sorry for the long-winded explanation.

So full of personality! Capturing the expressive postures of insects (ok, arachnids, in this case) is not at all easy and you did a beautiful job here. It's not just a wonderfully well made macro, but a true animal portrait.

And the little fellow does seem a bit alarmed/startled. The times I tried to capture jumping spiders they always jumped away from the camera. This one behaved quite differently and it makes me think that you are probably right: must have seen something worrisome in your lens!
