Pictures at an exhibition.
2016 saw the demise of many popular and revered musicians, and as 2 of our favourite challenges are 'illustrating songs' and make an LP cover, we will revisit these challenges but pick a song or a piece of music from one of the people who passed on this year. Keith Emerson, the co-founder and keyboardist of progressive rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer, has died aged 71.

Cardigan Bay at Barmouth is surrounded by the hills of Snowdonia National Park. It is a popular tourist destination, so it was nice ro see so few people on this part of the beach.

A very slippery bridge in a beautiful area. I did try to walk over it, but was holding onto the rails and sliding everywhere, so turned back, and we went over by car.

The picturesque bridge connects the A496 on the north of the valley to the A493 at Penmaenpool on the south of the valley. The A famous landmark the rickety wooden toll bridge was built in 1879 by the Penmaenpool Bridge Company to replace the ferry.

Barmouth Viaduct

Grade II* listed Barmouth Viaduct crosses the estuary of the River Mawddach, south of the town, carrying a single track of the Cambrian Coast Railway. Its swing span over the navigation channel no longer opens but the viaduct remains in continual use. A walkway on one side allows pedestrian and cycle access. The Cambrian line, around the northern end of Cardigan Bay, connects Aberystwyth, Tywyn, Barmouth, Harlech, Porthmadog, Criccieth and Pwllheli.
Originally pedestrians and cyclists were charged a toll to cross the viaduct but the small charges became uneconomic to collect and were abolished in June 2013.

My January reading list + new scarf and bracelet.
The PiP is what I used to read + a piece of old jewelry that I can no longer wear as the catch is broken. The new Commercial Arithmetic was my Father's. The battered dark red dictionary belonged to a great uncle.
The prize for merit is a leather-bound version of Oliver Twist which I was awarded in my last year in primary school.
